Aristotle believed that the earth is eternally unmoved and everything else revolves around it in concentric spheres. WebFor most state vectors, this is the Earth-Centered Inertial (ECI) coordinate system. The first part of this designation should seem fairly obvious. That is, since we're studying objects that revolve around the center of the Earth, it seems natural to have the center (origin) of our coordinate system at the center of the Earth.
